Redmi 2 Prime and Redmi 2 are being differently treated by xioami/miui developers in terms of the software side.

  1. tried several things to have VOLTE in my redmi 2 and finally found your solution to be the best.

Worked easily and the machine hasnt slowed down.

    Thank you for this solution

  2. For STEP 2, its important that the zip file is in either microSD or a USB-drive connected via OTG. I ran into some trouble as I rushed thru step 1 and wiped the phone off.

  4. well done brother the rom is awesome , VoLTE working perfect,
but still I experienced some blur images through camera may be camera is not able to focus if possible do this update , either you do it or not we still loved this rom keep doing this great work
I suggest people who are reading this article to backup your current rom before you follow this method you can backup your current rom using twrp recovery which also suggested here

I also want to add one thing here which I have experienced if someone with redmi 2 (1GB/8GB) variant going to enable VoLTE in your phone pls make sure that you should have lollipop rom in your bootloader simply speaking you should be on lollipop rom first or else if directly install this rom on your stock rom (which is not a lollipop rom) you will not get VoLTE working on your device

Either you install redmi 2 prime custom rom of lollipop first or else you can install the rom suggested in this article twice it will work wonders hope this will help

    Thank you

  5. First, Thanks a lot.
I did exactly as you had written. When I wish to reboot, I get a message that OS not loaded. But I did click individually all items under Android and stored in internal storage. What should I do? Kindly advise. URGENTLY. I cannot access my bank account without the phone. Hence the urgency. RSV SUBRAMANIAN rsv1934@gmail.com and 91-8098264238

    2. 1.Downloaded TWRP file wt88047-TWRP3.0.0-1_LP saved the zip and extracted files in My PC Downloads.
2.Similarly the THUNDER File. But the version was later than 6.10.20
      3.Similarly, abt reboot bootloader file
      4. Installed PDAnet for PC to recognise my phone.
5.Clicked on 'START' in TWRP file. Typed in cmd prompt 'abt devices'. A long screen followed.
6.Power off my phone, brought it on fastboot mode and connected to PC
7.Ran the batch file on TWRP. TWRP 'FLASHED' successfully.
      8. The phone screen automatically showed the ROM file. My memory is that it was LHJMIED or something similar. FLASHED that also successfully.
      9.Executed the Wipe exercise.
      10. Amongst all the options on the phone screen was REBOOT.
      11. When I clicked on that, phone said OS not installed and would not wake up even after one hour.
      12.Removed battery and slept overnight.
      13. Next morning, I could access the screen containing INSTALL and other options.
      14. I could call up the files in the phone and checked them all in my borrowed SD card. I also got them stored in the internal memory.
      15. Even now the phone warns me OS not installed. I have not tried rebooting.
      16. After repeated attempts got the fastboot screen on the phone.
      17. When connected to the PC PDA net shows device connected. But when I tried to install PDAnet on phone - purely as a test - it says connect device and shos an error.
      This is where I stand.
Is the situation retrievable? Otherwise, I will throw the phone away and buy a new one.
Many thanks for your prompt response.
Incidentally how does one acquire the technical expertise you and a few others have? Is there a course?
      Thanks again

    3. Hi there, thanks for the replying. What I will suggest you to do is - Let's format your internal and let's flash the Volte ROM once again.
Assuming you have enough internet data volume with you.

Please downloading the fastboot rom of Redmi 2 Prime from here : http://bigota.d.miui.com/V8.0.7.0.LHJMIDG/wt88047_pro_global_images_V8.0.7.0.LHJMIDG_20160805.0000.29_5.1_global_3f4aae40dd.tgz

Install xiaomi miflash from here : http://api.bbs.miui.com/url/MiFlash
Save it as .msi if it turns out to be a .html file.

Use the miflash tool to flash the fastboot rom.
      Download the TWRP recovery: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995314652

After flashing the fastboot ROM, please allow the device to boot fully to the homescreen thus do all the required setups.
Reboot into the fastboot mode and then flash TWRP recovery.

Now put the VoLTE file(https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424962968) on the external SD (microSD card) and now boot into TWRP Recovery and Flash it.

    5. Sorry to disappoint you. Though I could access the TWRP recovery screen with Install etc options and click on Format, the screen says 'Failed' in red. Obviously, I had committed an irreversible error in my first exercise and the phone has lost its ability to respond. I feel, it would be unfair to monopolise your time and exploit your generosity any longer. Therefore, I am junking the phone and buying another. I would like to record my appreciation and deep gratitude to you for all your help. May god Bless you with every happiness

    7. Your concern and perseverance in helping makes me feel deeply obliged. I was out of station without my laptop for a few days. On return, I tried your suggestion. I could flash the TWRP file via adb reboot bootloader. The ROM could also be flashed through MIUI Flash Tool. But, that is where the difficulty arose. The Flashing process went on and on even well after the progress bar was fully green for several minutes. After two such attempts, I gave up. When the data cannot be formatted, I think the phone refuses to respond to other moves. Thank you for your persistant guidance. I now give up finally.

  6. @rsv Subramanian ..... Use "Qualcomm QFIL" to flash the chip . I had faced same problem as yours . Mine main problem was the 'battery' of my phone (redmi2 1gb ram).I used to use diff charger..after exchanging battery it had been flashed perfectly. (i used QFIL )
    thank you
